Student Life

Faith Based Activities
We offer a wide range of events and programs that are spiritual in nature as well as focus on community service.
Disciple of the Month
Each month, a student from every class is recognized for demonstrating positive behavior. We celebrate virtues inspired by the teachings of Jesus, such as joy, kindness, respect, a strong work ethic, and more.

Month of the Rosary
Every October is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. To honor our mother, we will pray the rosary every week as a school in October. We may offer up the rosary for our families, the needy, our country, and more.
Annual 7th and 8th Grade Retreat
Every year, our 7th and 8th grade students participate in a retreat. Different speakers from around the country come to speak and pray with our students. Every retreat, the students will learn more about themselves, their relationship with God, and the Church.

Christmas Pageant
Every year to celebrate the joy of the holiday season, SJVRS hosts a Christmas Pageant! The pageant includes the following:
A Christmas Concert: Each grade will perform a festive holiday song.
A Christmas Tableau: Presented by our 7th and 8th-grade students.
Second Grade Angels: A special appearance to light up the season!
Weekly School Mass
Every week, we come together as a school to go to Mass. We honor the Lord in all we do including attending Mass on Wednesdays.

May Procession
In May, we honor our Blessed Mother, Mary, the Mother of God, through our cherished May Procession. This beautiful tradition begins with a procession of all our students and the crown for Mary into the Cathedral. Following the procession, we celebrate Mass and crown the statue of the Blessed Virgin in the Cathedral. It is a heartfelt and reverent way to honor our Blessed Mother during her special month.
Prayer Partners
Each student will be paired with another student from a different grade. The older student will mentor the younger in matters of faith. They will spend time together, attend Mass together, and pray for one another.

Helpers of Christ
The Helpers of Christ(HOC) is an initiative that encourages students to take greater responsibility for their own faith journey. Students in 7th and 8th grade can sign up to be part of this group, which helps promote our faith throughout the school. The HOC supports faith-centered events such as the Stations of the Cross, Advent activities, and more.
Stations of the Cross
During the season of Lent, our students in grades 4,5,6,7, and 8 pray the Stations of the Cross together. They meditate on Jesus's passion and death on the cross through 14 stations.
