Catholic Faith at SJVRS

Weekly School Mass
St. John Vianney students attend a School Mass every Wednesday morning. Each week, a different grade takes responsibility for the readings.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion
Our Catholic 2nd Graders prepare for the sacraments of Penance and First Holy Communion.

The Sacrament of Confirmation
Our Catholic 8th Graders will prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation that will more perfectly bind the child to the Church, making them enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.

Vianney Voices
Students in 4th to 8th Grade may become members of the student choir, The Vianney Voices.
The Vianney Voices perform during school masses.

Altar Serving
SJV students in 3rd to 8th Grade have the opportunity to altar serve during school masses.

Disciples of the Month
Each month, the teachers nominate one student from their class that exemplifies a virtue. These “Disciples of the Month” are recognized at a school Mass and presented with a certificate.

Prayer Partners
Every middle school student is paired with a student in an elementary grade. Throughout the year, the Prayer Partners participate in community service projects with their younger students. This program helps to foster an older/younger student relationship.

May Procession
May Procession is a beautiful tradition at St. John Vianney! Students in all grade levels celebrate Mary during her month with a procession into the church. A May Court honors Mary with flowers. Our 2nd and 8th Grade future graduates are recognized for their completion of their holy sacraments.
